Preparing the terrain

Recently I've started streaming on Twitch. Here are some thoughts about it and the thoughts about the future

I’ve been ‘playing games’ or gaming with people from all around the world since somewhere back in 2007 - too young you might say, but in my book, that moved a small rock that one day may start an avalanche. Back to present, I am a part of two groups of people that share the same joy of online co-operation and gaming in general that some things are just bound to happen - all we need is a spark to ignite that passion we all had when playing games or watching other friends play with us. Not very much has changed except the fact that we now get to do it online, with even more awesome people joining us.

Inspiration

For the past two years I’ve been spending most of my gaming time with my Greek friends from 1p, the absolute legends, you will get to meet them one day as well. I say Greek but we come from Portugal over Croatia and Greece to Turkey. The most unlikely allies you might think, but we are more alike than you might think.

The other group I’m a part of is the 1st Delaware Honse Infantry Regiment - https://honse.org which is based in the USA and focuses mostly around the game I started my streaming expedition with, War of Rights. This group is as diverse as the USA itself, absolutely filled with legends.

Together we are all bound by our passion for games and when we are not playing them, we sometimes spend our time together watching and commenting other famous Twitch streamers.

And what we do when we play together, when you hear those people enjoying themselves, it is absolutely pure gold. I want the world to see and hear, experience, what my eyes seeing and what my ears are hearing. The content we together make simply needs to be somewhere.

That is what inspired me to ‘Go Live’. The people. The legends. The experience.

Going live for the first time

Of course, it had to happen, and it wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was if there wasn’t for, another very special group of people, my very closest friends whom I could absolutely spam the shit out of with the link to my stream. I hope, dear Reader, you will meet some of them as well but there is no space on the internet to tell you how much I love them.

Streaming for friends over Discord is something we’ve been doing for quite some time now, but hitting it for Twitch, hitting it for public is something I can equate to maybe speaking to the public for the first time - you have that feeling that the whole world is watching, but it’s only the very best of friends full of their support, keeping me firmly on the ground.

Despite those first couple of streams being only experiments, to get the ball rolling, the kick I got from everyone felt great and in my book, they were a success. There maybe dozen and a half clicks, but I know they were as genuine as they could’ve been.

I felt great and I felt tired.

The Creator Channel

There is a plethora of games to choose from, but I decided to start with what one group played and one group enjoyed seeing. While we prepare everything during the summer, you might find me streaming some games I enjoy myself… city building games like Banished or Manor Lords, competitive games (or where I at least try to be competitive at) like Age of Empires 2 or League of Legends and Rocket League but the absolute bangers we are preparing for the winter will be Rust, the sandbox survival game, and aforementioned War of Rights, the civil war re-enactment game. If there’s time and will, I hope we will be able to squeeze in some DayZ adventurizing in there as well.

Again, the content we make on those we play together is something the world has to see.

My plan is to get the ball rolling - in the next six months or so, I want to include as many people as I can to this story and the potential between us is too big to pass on. I’m under a strong impression we can get a solid number of friends and friends of friends joining us on these experiences and build even greater communities with people around us. Since I don’t consider myself the face for the camera or the voice for the radio, I will need all the help I can get from them on that front haha. I like engaging with the audience, but I don’t think I’m a camera face although my viking beard might disagree. We will see what the future brings.

The future

Navigating through life, work and all the other projects I’m involved with is by no means a small feat, I am well aware of that. But my goal here is to be the spark, to ignite something that has the potential to turn into a great story. My future streaming schedule will depend on what the life brings along. There are big plans for the fall/winter period in the making but as they said in one of the tv shows I watched long time ago, ‘you can plan all you want, but people, they get in the way’ haha. Challenges will be there to tackle them, but with all those awesome people around me, I feel more prepared than ever to start solving them together.
